How to brew with Moccamaster

Moccamaster

Meet the Moccamaster – your ticket to brewing top-notch coffee, effortlessly. Whether it’s for your household or office, this electric marvel serves up exceptional, consistent brews that rival the finesse of pour-over coffee. Get ready for a clean, smooth, and complex cup in under 6 minutes.

What You’ll Need

  • Moccamaster coffee brewer
  • Filter papers (size #4)
  • Scales
  • 75g coffee, coarsely ground
  • 1250g water

Step-by-Step

  1. Pour 1.25 liters of fresh water into the water reservoir, filling it up to the 1¼ line.
  2. Take a filter paper and fold it along each seam, creating an opening for your brew. Place it into the basket and give it a quick rinse letting the water drip through before returning it to the machine.
  3. Pour your ground coffee into the basket with the rinsed filter paper.
  4. Set the filter basket to ‘open’ (the ‘O’ setting), and flip the brewer’s switch to ‘on’.
  5. Watch the magic happen! Once all the water has dripped through, give the carafe a gentle swirl to blend the flavors.
  6. Now, pour yourself a cup of the finest Moccamaster-brewed coffee and savor the experience.

Tips

  • For larger brews (750ml–1L), opt for a grind size that’s a bit coarser than pour-over but finer than what you’d use for a plunger.
  • When making a big batch, like 1L of coffee, you can enhance extraction by stirring the coffee in the filter basket. After the coffee is covered with water, give it a light stir to ensure all the grounds are fully wet.
  • If you’re brewing less coffee, use the ratio of 60g of coffee per 1L of water. For instance, to make around 2 cups, use 500g of water and 30g of coffee.
  • Don’t forget to show your Moccamaster some love – clean it every 2–3 months to keep the magic flowing. Enjoy your coffee journey!
