What You’ll Need
- Moccamaster coffee brewer
- Filter papers (size #4)
- Scales
- 75g coffee, coarsely ground
- 1250g water
Step-by-Step
- Pour 1.25 liters of fresh water into the water reservoir, filling it up to the 1¼ line.
- Take a filter paper and fold it along each seam, creating an opening for your brew. Place it into the basket and give it a quick rinse letting the water drip through before returning it to the machine.
- Pour your ground coffee into the basket with the rinsed filter paper.
- Set the filter basket to ‘open’ (the ‘O’ setting), and flip the brewer’s switch to ‘on’.
- Watch the magic happen! Once all the water has dripped through, give the carafe a gentle swirl to blend the flavors.
- Now, pour yourself a cup of the finest Moccamaster-brewed coffee and savor the experience.
Tips
- For larger brews (750ml–1L), opt for a grind size that’s a bit coarser than pour-over but finer than what you’d use for a plunger.
- When making a big batch, like 1L of coffee, you can enhance extraction by stirring the coffee in the filter basket. After the coffee is covered with water, give it a light stir to ensure all the grounds are fully wet.
- If you’re brewing less coffee, use the ratio of 60g of coffee per 1L of water. For instance, to make around 2 cups, use 500g of water and 30g of coffee.
- Don’t forget to show your Moccamaster some love – clean it every 2–3 months to keep the magic flowing. Enjoy your coffee journey!
